Intro to Modern Arabic calligraphy is 6 week online course. This course creates an awareness and appreciation of the modern Arabic handwriting tradition.
Our teacher, Liyakhath Ali (Liyakh) is a UAE-based Arabic modern calligraphy artist and Arabic language educator. Known for his fast and dynamic live calligraphy style, he captivates audiences through expressive demonstrations. Alongside his artistic work, he is dedicated to teaching, mentoring students, and conducting research to advance and preserve the art of Arabic calligraphy.

course objectives
Guided practice of each letter in isolation
Analysis of letter anatomy (curves, angles, proportions)
Instructor demonstration and individual feedback
Letter proportion accuracy (70%+ correct proportions)
Understand letter connections and joining rules
Write connected letterforms smoothly
Create simple Arabic names
Maintain consistent baseline and spacing
